Vodacom Fibre Fiasco

Ok simplest way to outline this is a timeline: 13 Feb - Order Vodacom Fibre, Application gets set to 'open' status 25 Feb - 1 March - Repeatedly call 'Altron' asking for attention, still within SLA but something does need to get started if they will be done in 14 days. - On 1 March (12th working day since application) someone at Altron finally decides that yes, they are indeed cutting the installation a bit fine. - Get a call 7 minutes later from someone actually at Vodacom (someone who can actually do something), Installation scheduled for 6 March (1 day past SLA) - I see the light at the end of the tunnel. 6 March - Installation done, no internet access, installer says it should come on in a few hours when they 'load the configurations'. - I see they have changed the default router IP and password, locking me out of the router. - Internet does not come on. 7 March - Present - Heated conversations with Altron people asking for the configs to be done. These people are not capable of anything beyond connecting to the router or emailing Vodacom. - Still no configuration done for the router, still no internet. At time of writing 6 days out of SLA.

Some key points that really drive home the stupidity of this whole thing: - Vodacom is only ISP available in my area because they own the infrastructure. I will be calling the Competition Commission about this as surely monopolizing an area and then withholding the service is ******* somehow. - Vodacom makes use of 'Altron' who can only send 'Service Requests' and emails to Vodacom, communication is only in 1 direction and you will get no gratification for your request by talking to Altron. - You cannot reach ANYBODY at Vodacom who can actually do anything about the issue. I suspect Vodacom has done this to shield themselves from the blame of the poor initiative they seem to have bred into a culture. They claim to be working 'hand in hand' with Altron but I think it is more of a 'finger up bum' relationship. - Vodacom claims to provide LTE connectivity during installation while I was informed just yesterday that this is actually only for areas where there is not yet fibre and installation may take longer like 3-6 months. Seems to be deliberately misleading...

Have a haiku: Vodacom really sucks Altron can't help me at all Out of S-L-A

Official private business reply Dear Customer, Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation. Our records indicate that the query was resolved. Regards Consumer Website Team Hi Vodacom, I have no internet as yet so no, this is not resolved. I was called and put on a conference call with Vodacom Scheduling per my request. I spoke to Pearl and requested my router settings and login be sent to me via email an hour ago. It is resolved once I have internet. Regards Daniel
