Vodacom fibre (Bottom line is it's just not worth your time)

I know that service providers are demonized in general because of bad customer care, long waiting times and general connection issues. However, in dealing with Vodacom it seems that their structure is inherently built to provide the most promises of help with the least possible results. This is long, however it is all absolutely true.

I decided to get fibre as my sister is now staying with me and needs the internet to do her studies. It was essential. I app**** for it a month before she would move down as I read that it takes 7-24 days for installation. I received my router, however I received no feedback as to when my fibre would be installed. I phoned in and I was told that there wasnt even a ticket made yet and that I'd have to wait 7-24 days. First sign that perhaps correspondence wasnt Vodacom's strong suit. As I waited a week for before phoning feedback, this meant now my sister was going to arrive at roughly the time the fibre was installed. 29 days go past with no feedback from vodacom. I phone in, and I am told that the installation would be at my residence the following week ( +4 days ). Day 33 rolls around, time for the installation team to arrive, no feedback from vodacom. Now this is only the start. I phone again and then I was told that the consultant just found out that the reason for the delay was that the infrastructure providers had swapped. I was told that this issue is being pushed up and I'd just have to agree to use the new infrastructure provider and that someone would be in touch to sort the issue out. I recieved a call a few hours later, however it was during a meeting and I couldnt answer. Please take into account that I only find this out after over a month and after phoning vodacom multiple times for feedback. Now here is where things get real juicy. I call in the next day (because ofcourse the issue was pushed on another day, now 34 ) and the new consultant tells me that my sales order was invalid and that all the promises made to me were essentially hot air and I'd have to re-start the whole process. I am promised that the issue will get resolved, my process will be expidited and that all be okay. Except that my new sales order is rejected. I spend the next 2 hours ( Oh and ofcourse Im at work so ill have to work this back as over time as vodacom just seems structurally built to waste your time). I go through 6 consultants. 3 in sales, 2 in installations and 1 in fibre support. Sales tells me to speak to installations, installations tells me to speak to sales until someone puts me through to fibre support. Finally when here, I am told that no, no one can sort this issue out quickly, every step has a waiting time and at the end of the day I might just have to restart and resubmit a third order. SOOOOOOOO the outcome of this story, day 34 and all vodacom can tell me (very sweetly) that due to their corporate structure my first 2 orders are invalid, my times ben wasted but surely, SURELY, they'll get it right the third time.

So if you want a company to waste your time, but talk nicely and promise you the world while they do so, vodacom is the company fibre provider for you!

If you actually want internet go to telkom, theyll still shaft you but atleast youll be able to stream netflix.
