Vodacom fibre

Utterly disappointed with Vodacom fibre.

October 2018, a salesperson from Vodacom fibre came to my home offering me a home fibre package that would cost me less than my current adsl line at higher line speed and uncapped. I was aware that Vodacom was laying new fibre lines in the area and were overjoyed that they were finally going live. I signed up and was informed that the fibre will only be going live in 2019 and that I will be contacted to arrange installation of the router.

By the end of February I contact Vodacom and they inform me that the line is active and that I can arrange the installation. Apparently someone did try to phone but never botherd to call again after I was unable to answer the phone the first time. Anyway, I booked the installation appointment and gave notice to my current service provider that I am cancelling my adsl and moving to fibre.

On the day of installation the technicians arrive at my house and start walking around. After touring my yard and up and down the street they inform me that my side of the street does not have access to the fibre network and that the network was only laid out up to the opposite side of the street. After apologising they return without even unpacking their gear.

I contact Vodacom and ask them why they sold me something that they were unable to provide, they just say sorry and start blaming the other departments. With no one could give me a straight answer without pointing a finger at someone else, I cancel the fibre contract. Going back to my previous service provider mweb who promptly offer me a new deal to keep my home connected to the internet.

Now almost two months later I get a bunch of sms's and emails telling me my fibre order is ready for installation and that I will be contacted to arrange an appointment. I contact Vodacom again and to my surprise they i form me that according to their system the router was already installed at my house.

I have now again had to cancel the fibre which was sold without it even being available. This is totally unacceptable and as a Vodacom customer for more that ten years, I am seriously considering moving my cellphone contract to another service provider as well.

After being contacted by Vodacom and being assured that the contract has been cancelled Vodacom still billed me for the service that they are unable to provide.
