Vodacom fiber **** and refusing to assist new customers!
Last year (2018) I was conned into signing a fibre contract with Vodacom. The fibre lines were installed by Vumatel and all different service providers jumped on the band wagon to get people to sign contracts with them. A sales rep from Vodacom met us by the gate of our premises and requested me to sign a contract with Vodacom. I didn’t want to and she said that I can at least sign permission for Vodacom to do a credit check on me for in case I would decide to sign a contract them the credit check would then be completed. I signed a form. Actually two pages, first page with my personal details and a second page that I signed. With her cellphone she took a picture of my driver’s license. Later I learnt from Vodacom that, that was actually a contract for a 4meg line that I signed. Something that I didn’t want as that would have been insufficient for my needs. In November of 2018 I wanted to sign up with another service provider because I heard nothing from Vodacom. I was then told that the fiber line could only be released if I paid an amount of R1700.00 because I had a binding contract with them. At that time and up until now I haven’t received anything from Vodacom. Not a router, no service, nothing. In the beginning of January I requested Vodacom to upgrade my line to a 20meg line as I didn’t have the R1700 to get out of the contract.. That is when the problems started. As I have mentioned, up until now I am stuck without internet. No router, no nothing. Daily phone calls to Vodacom leads to sweet talk and promises. I eventually spoke to a line manager - Dean Saunders, but he wasn't able to provide any solutions. All I would like from Vodacom is to deliver my router so that that can have my internet on the so called contract that I signed with them. I honestly didn’t know that it takes a big company over two months to deliver a router to a customer’s house!
