Vodacom Fiber Month to Month

Vodacom Fiber... With so many options for fast internet these days, I decided to take Vodacom up on their offer while installing fiber in my street. The best part was, I had some time to look at my options. I could choose Rain 5G that soon was on its way, Herotel for a bit cheaper with their pole already planted at my house, and Telkom, which I was a DSL client off at the time. I decided to go for the premium service of Vodacom, knowing my Cellphones are with them already.

I ordered the 50meg up, 50meg down line and asked the appropriate questions. On the website, they had a 24-month, 12-month contract as well as a month-to-month solution, so I chose the month-to-month. Within the first 3 months of using the Fiber internet, I found that my speed dropped to under 10Meg down. I reported the problem and got fast feedback on fixing it, my fiber speed was better, and stayed so for a week, only to again grind to a halt with ping packets lost, line dropping, and speed tests back at 6-8Meg download speed. After a long time of ups and downs and many phone calls, I decided to cancel the Vodacom fiber and give Rain a chance. I spoke to a lady and filled in the appropriate forms end of May-start June (sr***). This was a month-to-month account and as such, I asked if they would come and fetch the routers, she told me no. I asked if there would be any additional costs, knowing I could not afford to pay 2 Internet Service Providers at the same time. She e-mailed me a form and says this would be my last payment. I signed and went on my way. (they record all calls and are free to check)

This month (August 2021) I saw my Vodacom account with an extra R950 to be paid. After more than 3 hours of waiting end explaining the situation over the phone, I still can not reach the billing department as they are a closed system now. The people I speak to keep on creating new SR log numbers and I'm getting nowhere slowly. Today I was told, this is a (BOC) breach of contract cost of R950 that needs to be paid. I did not take the year contract and no one told me there could even be a BOC fine, even when I canceled due to line speed problems on their side. I'm writing this review because I've always been a huge supporter of Vodacom, and even after they could not fix the speed problems, I didn't make a fuss, even though it created many problems for me at the time. If you advertise on your website month-to-month, there can be no BOC cost.

I then spoke to a Vodacom representative and was explained that it was my last months' payment, never a Contract Breach cost. Phone call Recording on your side

Vodacom Fiber was to be disconnected on June 30'th

I recently spoke to chandre.billin**@v****.za and was told that the fault was on Vodacom's side, also, that I was charged for the month of July 2021, managed would have called me back. Phone call Recording on your side

I spoke to Begg, Muhammad who told me this was an error on your side and would get back to me as soon as possible. Phone call Recording on your side

I now ask you Vodacom, how can you charge me a breach of contract fee if I had a month-to-month contract? This was never mentioned, not even when I decided to end the contract due to Poor Performance. Even then, was it not you who broke the month-to-month contract by not supplying internet speed as agreed upon?

I have a monthly account of between R400 to R1000 that I pay on time for years now, I can not afford to make unfounded payments due to a responsibility to my other creditors.

Thank you for your time
