Vodacom Fails to Verify Client Information and Results in *****
In our society today we tend to take for granted that huge corporate companies have our best interest at heart and that our information is safe when we engage their business in exchange for service. Vodacom a major stakeholder in our telecoms industry in RSA I believe has the worst defense against ***** for their customers,
I had a contract with Vodacom in 2009 and completed my contractual period as well as a month-to-month engagement and finally terminated the contract in 2011, low and behold in 2024 the very same account is used to commit ***** on my name for an upgrade. This not even being done over the phone but in one of Vodacom's stores in Vereeniging, and after all these years thinking that an account is closed ***** is committed in the store by someone and Vodacom approves it willingly.
Vodacom did not even have the decency to contact me directly i only found out when i drew my credit report that this had tarnished my name and upon informing them about this in March the 24th. After hours on the phone being transferred all over i was shocked to find that Vodacom does not have a ***** line to engage such queries and that all correspondence is done via email, that no one responds to.
Finally, after weeks of the same sms I finally get informed that yes ***** was committed on my name and that Vodacom will clear all the disputes I am still waiting on a clearance letter and my name is still not cleared no email responses and when calling the CC nobody can assist as ***** does not take calls. Vodacom is quiet no urgency to restore what they have failed to prevent.
I urge everyone to be careful with their information but i am deeply disappointed in how Vodacom is dealing with this issue.
