Vodacom fails to initiate debit order, blocks me from getting new contract for 60 days because account is "in arrears" due to their own mistakes.

We went into Vodacom shop on Monday to apply for a new contract. After wasting our time, we were eventually told the request was declined because our account was in arrears. This obviously doesn't make sense, as I pay via debit order.

Upon checking my bank statement, I found that the debit order did not go through. This was not a problem on my side as all other debit orders went through, and it seems like the order was not initiated from Vodacom's side. I can only assume this was because it was a holiday and had to move over to a new, upgraded contract.

Now I am blocked from applying for a new contract for 60 days, because of the account being "in arrears" due to their own mistake. Vodacom doesn't seem capable of giving me any more information than that. I really needed this new contract as soon as possible, but Vodacom has now made this effectively impossible.

This is simply ridiculous, I do not expect such incompetence from Vodacom, as we have been their clients for a very long time.
