Vodacom exploiting the vulnerable elderly
My father had been diagnosed with Dementia 3 years ago. He currently lives in a frail care facility in Cape Town with full-time nursing support.
The retirement home carers have advised us, the family, that he regularly receives phone calls from Vodacom salespeople selling cellphone contracts, device upgrades, and whatever else.
A person diagnosed with Dementia is not of sound mind and they cannot legally be bound to a contract. When these people call him and offer contracts which he inadvertently agrees to. This is basically *****. The sale of that contract is not legal.
Despite the family sending numerous emails, messages via social media, and calls to the call center, everything has been ignored because Vodacom refuses to deal with us, saying the contract holder must contact them.
Vodacom, this practice of exploiting the elderly is a new low for your already shady reputation as a service provider.
On behalf of the family, I demand someone make contact with me and offer a way to resolve this. We will have no choice but to launch an extensive campaign against you via social media, radio, and even Carte Blanche for your disgusting exploitation of the vulnerable elderly.
