Vodacom expects a client to pay for their website **** up
Vodacom messed up and expects me to pay for the mistake. I had two contract with Vodacom, I upgraded one contract end of October 2024 online and everything was fine. My second contract was available for upgrade from January 2025 so I went online and submitted the upgrade for the second number. I received the second device towards the end of January and thought everything was fine but when I went to look at my bill at the beginning of February I seen a problem. The upgrade I took on the second number at the end of January was somehow on the first number which is a 2 month old contract and should not have been possible to upgrade again. I called Vodacom late on 03/02/2025 and they said the department I need to speak to was only open at 8am the next day but agreed that what happened shouldn’t have been possible. I called Vodacom again on 04/02/2025 and spent over an hour on the phone with 4 different people all of them agreed that what happened shouldn’t have been possible. All the consultants I spoke to said that the only way I can fix the issue to send back the device and then take out the contract on the right number, I refused to to do this as it is a major inconvenience and since it’s Vodacom mess up I should not have to pay or be inconvenienced for it to be fixed. Since the consultant at after sales and retentions and cancellations department both said it’s the only way I chose to cancel the second contract all together but they still said I am somehow liable to pay for the second contract for this month. I will not pay for that and I demand that this be fixed and that my contract that was taken out October 2024 be reinstated to the way it was. I was called by a lady from the escalations team on Friday 07/02/2024 and she said that it was possible to fix the mess up without sending the device back but it’s too late because I cancelled the contract and that she’ll look into it and call me back last Monday. I haven’t heard back from her and I doubt that I will. Dealing with Vodacom is always frustrating, not one of the people I spoke to regarding this situation even suggested a suitable solution which was possible until it was too late, and that is why I prefer doing things online over speaking to a consultant. If you call the call center with an issue it seems like their response is that it’s with the back office and they know nothing and they’ll send a request for an update which you will never get. What’s the point of having a contact center if they cannot give you information. Vodacom needs to rethink their system and allow information to be shared between the back office and contact center or allow calls to be transferred to someone that can actually give you some useful information. They are quick to take money but make it so difficult to fix their **** ups.
