Vodacom - End of data contract price hike without my knowledge during pandemic.

I took out a data contract 2 years ago on Black Friday. After the contract expired it suddenly doubled in price. I have had contracts with vodacom before and never before has the price increased after the contract expired. Due to Covid I stopped my debit order as I don’t have an income but I kept on paying the monthly subscription every month without fail and without asking for a reduction. When the contract supposedly ended I didn’t know that I was going to have to pay a much higher rate and as soon as I noticed it I contacted vodacom to find out whats going on. I explained my situation to them and they said I have to cancel the contract if I don’t want to pay the now almost R700 per month but they won’t cancel the contract until I have paid up the extra money that has been added on each month. I am currently a full time university student and got the data contract for my studies. I didn’t know that the price would increase after the end of the contract and I don’t have the money to pay but they won’t cancel the contract so the amount just keeps getting larger. When you speak to them they just have no interest in trying to sort this out. I feel that this is very ********* of them to do this and just expect people to pay especially now with Covid.
