Vodacom doesn't treat customers fairly

On friday the 22nd of July I took out a contract with vodacom as my previous service provider didn't have good reception in my suburb. I chose the Sony Xperia X. When I got home I immediately took photos as it was said that the Xperia took amazing photos.

To my shock and horror the photos I took with the flash had a green line through the photos.

On Saturday, 23 July I took the phone back to the Vodacom store in Cresta.

Firstly the sony tecnician told me that I fiddled with the settings and then that I was covering the flash with my finger therefore the photos came out green. Really????

They finally agreed to take the phone back but then I was told that you don't get a replacement phone immediately, they send it in to the repair shop and only when the technicians give their approval, will they give you a reference number and then you can get a new phone.

I have been waiting now for 7 days and I still don't have a phone. I had to follow up every day this past week and had to scream and yell and fight to their attantion.

Yesterday afternoon, I was finally notified that the repair scentre gave their approval but now the shop doesn't have stock for the colour I want.

Vodacom was right on time to take my firt premium on Wednesday even though I still don't have a phone.

My questions are simple:

1. Is Vodacom treating me fairly?

2. Why am I being put at a disadvantaged because a phone was faulty out of the box?

3. Why is it so easy to deduct my premium but it is impossible to render good service?

All I want now is to cancel my contract which is obviously even more difficult and impossible as to get a working phone from Vodacom.

I am so so dissapointed and I am shocked at the no care attitude.

Rene Brenkman
