Vodacom doesn't seem to mind losing money

I went to Vodacom this weekend to put my prepaid SIM onto a contract, and with the contract I received a new iPhone6. When my SIM became active, there however were no minutes or data available. I then phoned customer services to ask if they can assist and the lady said that it's still just a prepaid phone, there is no contract linked to it. I then said that this means Vodacom gave me a free phone and asked what I should do. She then said that I can either go to the store to try and fix it or sit at home and enjoy my new phone.

I then tried to reach the sales lady at Vodacom Menlyn, but couldn't reach her, I also left my name and number, but have not received a call back. I'd like to rectify this mistake (which I'm sure not a lot of people would even do), but no one seems to care.
