Vodacom does not seem to care about ******* sim swaps

When I noticed that my cellphone service appeared to have been disconnected, I visited my nearest branch (Paarl Mall) where, after scrambling for a while with my phone settings, a fairly disinterested service rep (or so it appears) told me that my sim has been swapped. I can swap it back...and pay for it, of course, including any expenses incurred in the period since. She also assured me that there is nothing that Vodacom can do to safeguard me as a customer. There was no interest or willingness to investigate the source of the *****, which made me think about the fact that Vodacom benefits financially from these ******* transactions. After all, every penny de*****ed is covered by the customer. Why are they willing to look further into these cases? Much has been said about staff and employees being complicit, but not a resolution in sight. Overall, the visit to the branch and service received was extremely disappointing and disheartening. I would really like to know what the solution is to prevent similar issues in future, especially as ********** seem to have figured out to send multiple sim swap notifications ahead of time so that it looks like simple spam.

Vodacom, this is shameful (and careless) service to a long-term customer!

Joan
