Vodacom does not let me port a prepaid number

I have decided to port out from Vodacom pre-paid. This is usually a simple request that the telecoms companies try to complicate.

I have sent the request to MTN, which requests a port from Vodacom. Vodacom is supposed to send me a confirmation SMS to confirm that I really made the request. This SMS has not been sent on any of the 4 Port Out requests I have made so far, which means that my port request is denied. I'm on a pre-paid number with no device payments, which means that I have no outstanding payments to Vodacom which would explain the situation.

The call centre is not helpful, as they are not given the right tools to fix my problem and pass me to another department, who cannot help either. They then \Escalate\" the situation but this seems to have no real effect whatsoever. I would not be surprised to learn that this is a \"strategic\" decision from Vodacom to make it difficult for people to leave with their numbers, so they may decide to stay. "
