Vodacom does not have the answer

I recently (July 2025) took up a new contract with Vodacom for a new tablet. I tried to get insurance last week but was rejected as the tablet is now too old. Fair enough, I waited too long. Apparently 3 months is old. However, I am now struggling to find out what my warranty covers and for how long. I spent a whole morning on the phone trying to find out from Vodacom and they could not provide the information. They said I must contact the manufacturer or go to a Vodacom store. There is no Vodacom store close to me. I explained this. I dutifully emailed Mobicell who informed me I must ask Vodacom as warranties differ. I've tried emailing various departments at Vodacom with no response. Is it not my legal right to know what my warranty covers. Should the information not be readily available?

Hi Marika, thank you for taking our call.

We’re glad to hear that your tablet is now insured.

For warranty-related matters, here’s a quick overview:

✅ What’s Covered:

Internal malfunctions (e.g., screen, motherboard, battery issues not caused by misuse)

Software issues directly related to the operating system or firmware

❌ What’s Not Covered:

User damage (cracked screens, water damage, or drops)

Installation of unauthorized software or rooting

Lost or ****** devices

Please note: Warranties are generally valid for 1 year, unless otherwise stipulated.

We hope this information is helpful.

Regards, Vodacom Consumer Website team

Best regards,
