Vodacom do as they please with MY money.
I had a 3GB MBB 24 month - TopUp plan with Vodacom, inception date April 2015. I contacted Vodacom Customer Care on Friday 29 May 2019 to cancel this monthly subscription. One of their customer service consultants then informed me that Vodacom did not want to loose me as a loyal client, but would instead offer me a 2 GB 24 month Hybrid promotional deal, for only R79.00 p/m with inception the 1st of April (Order no. 1- ********** ********** ). This deal is for R125.00 airtime and FREE 2GB data for duration of contract. I do not need the airtime as I have a contract phone with Vodacom (since inception of Sept 2003), but could convert it to data. This sounded great...then all the problems started. On Sunday 31/03 I connected to my 3GB data plan to use the remaining 2.7GB data before the 31st of March and the change over. To my surprise I had no data as Vodacom had already over the weekend done the change over on their system, cancelled the 3GB and loaded the new package, that reflected only the R125.00 airtime and not the 2GB free data. I contacted Vodacom Customer Care, but had to stay on the line so long, that I gave up. I am busy so eventually made time to deal with this on the 9th of May. At the time I only wanted the 3GB missing data from the previous contract, but when I checked the package loaded online on Mobile no. ********** 571, I noticed that not only was the 2GB free data still missing, but the price reflecting was R84.01 and NOT the agreed R79.00 p/m which was sold to me. I Phoned 082 111 on Tuesday the 9th of April at 13:43. Vodacom had indeed loaded the contract prematurely and the consultant escalated my request for the missing 2.7GB data to be allocated to my account - Ref no. 1- ********** ********** . As for the missing 2GB free data that was a system error experienced over the weekend and would be allocated to my account as soon as I had paid the last subscription due for March re the 3GB contract. I had withheld payment to first resolve the matter. I agreed to pay the amount owed, which I later on did. The difference in subscription fee was because of a price increase implemented as from Monday the 1st of April. This infuriated me as Vodacom offered me this deal, supposedly because I was a valued and loyal customer they did not want to loose, and their consultant did not have the decency to inform me about the price increase. I would still have taken the deal had I known the new price at THAT time. I feel that this was material non-disclosure on Vodacom's part and *********. I said as much and told the consultant that this is unacceptable and I expect to pay the R79.00 agreed, as their was no way their consultant (who sold it to me) did not know on the 29th of March about the price increase 3 days hence. She escalated the matter Ref no: 1- ********** ********** . And that was the last I heard from Vodacom, except for an SMS informing me that the matter re 3GB data was being attended to. On Tuesday 23 April at 15:00 I again contacted Vodacom. In the mean time that missing 3GB from March had been allocated to my account, but still no sign of the missing 2GB free data, nor a change in price. I spoke to Nompumelelo and was informed that Vodacom would not give me the agreed price of R79.00 p/m and had cancelled this 24month contract with effect from 1 May, but that I still have to pay the R84.01 subscription fee for April. Not only did they unilaterally decide this without informing me, but to add insult to injury, reinstated the 3GB month-month plan at R171.00 p/m as from the 1st of May. They completed ignore my request to cancel this contract already made on 29 March. As for the missing free 2GB data, as at to date still no sign of that. This is completely unacceptable to me. Vodacom do as the please with my money and ex[ect me to just pay. It is not about the R5.00 but the principal and ethics of the matter. If I owed Vodacom R5.00 they would come to collect and expect me to pay, not say it's ok since it is only R5.00 after all. And then still expecting me to pay the April subscription fee, and by the way I have not used the R125.00 airtime, nor even the 3GB data (mine to begin with), so I don't see how come I owe Vodacom money for what is THEIR fault. Next I would probably be expected to pay the 3GB subscription for May and all while just quietly accepting Vodacom's unilateral and totalitarian actions with MY MONEY. I think not! Please can Vodacom rectify this and show that they consider me a valued, loyal customer (as they indicated). I have only ever had contracts with Vodacom, three to date and the same mobile number since 2003 with Vodacom of course. I have always paid Vodacom what was owed, and never have they had to contact me or come looking for money, but this is how they treat me after all my loyalty. I guess I am one of many victims.
