Vodacom dishonors its tele-marketed contract
I recently upgraded my contract and did a price beat to MTN with the retentions department for two cell phone contracts. The deal was done telephonically and confirmed and no documentation was sent when the phone was delivered. I received a sms on 28 Feb that the upgrade was completed and only part of the deal was initiated in March. I was advised by a representative in the retentions department after several calls that the data would only reflect in April as the contract expired in March. Well NO luck with that!! I called the Vodacom retentions department more than 10 times and spoke to different consultants all whom have told me they escalated it (Roxanne, Jerome, Himesh, Chris the manager, to name a few) and yet still on 12 April, no resolve. In my first calls to Vodacom in March, i reminded the consultant about the cool off period and yet I found out today from the branch at Gateway umhlanga that none of my calls were recorded in the system. Is this how Vodacom operates?? I have been pushed from pillar to post because my numbers are on the old system and then when i finally get someone to help (or so it seems), i am told that the contract was finalised with Elite Mobile. Who is infact Elite Mobile (0861 number provided to me who infact did not acknowledge the contract). I was assured that Elite Mobile would call me but its been more than a week. Vodacom will now need to account to the Consumer Protection Act as this a deliberate action to prevent me from exercising a cool off by not logging any of my calls. Furthermore, if contracts over the phone are not capable of being handled with ethics, that business should stop. I have been a loyal customer to Vodacom for 24 years and have been a RED VIP customer for more than 15. This is unnaccepable service and is unprofessional. If its the last thing i do, I will be escalating this to the CEO Shamil Joosup for his resolution as there seems to be such incompetence in the ranks.
