Vodacom dishonesty on repairs and services is *****

I took a iPhone 6 out of warranty in for repairs. After a week of excuses they come back to me with the story that they don't repair phones out of warranty but can replace it for R5500 CASH or a new contract for a new phone. So basically they don't stand by their product. Why take it in at all if that's their policy? Surely the Consumer Council should have something to say about this blatant *******? Not to provide a repair service beyond 2 years is a crime. How can they expect anyone to find that amount of cash?

What makes things worse now is that that 5500 gets me a iPhone 6 with no guarantee. The manufacturer will supply a replacement phone that we know can't be fixed (or they won't fix) and charge me for the pleasure. How much more collusion between Apple and Vodacom to rip customers off does the Competition Commission need? With the latest CC ruling both SA's Apple CEO and Vodacom CEO should be imprisoned for this type of COLLUSION.

How is it possible that Vodacom are stupid & uncaring enough to respond with exactly the same diatribe of denial & policy. They don't care about their customers or consumer legislation in SA. This is collusion between Apple & Vodacom to de***** South Africans.

Dear Ivor Blumenthal

Your Hellopeter posting refers.

Apple units carry a one year warranty. Any faulty unit will be assessed and replaced. If the fault is covered by Apple's warranty the handset will be replaced without cost to yourself. If the fault is not covered by Apple's warranty or the unit is out of warranty, the repair centre will issue a quote to for a replacement unit. Once accepted, the unit will be replaced. If the quote is rejected, the unit is sent back.

Should you have any questions, kindly contact ********** (Vodacare Head Office)

My reply:

With respect that is precisely the point. It is not a consumer centric or fair policy. "Buy our unit which is guaranteed for a year. Unless you pay for an extended warranty we will only quote on a replacement not a repair. " That is collusion to de***** & mislead in anyone's book. Come onto my Radio Programme Contemporary Business on Radio Today & let's debate the merits & ***** I am accusing you of. To suggest that your unit has to be replaced at R 5500 after a year if there is a fault is quite simply stupid. If Apple customers understand the implication of your policy I guarantee you a Class Action suit.
