Vodacom: disgusting, despicable company
Vodacom: I used to like vodacom and say nice things about it to my friends. No more. I will be saying nothing good about it anymore. I now know that if they can get away with something underhanded (because they can slide it through "legal" means) they will do it. They have no conscience about doing something that is morally wrong. Last year in Nov/Dec. they suddenly placed a Black Friday special on the list where we all go to buy our data. It's the place you go as a vodacom customer to change some of your airtime into data (at the start of every month). They always use the term "buy" to transfer your airtime into data. This time... In the spot on the list where this is always done, they said "buy" a gig or something for a certain amount (big special). The wording was exactly the same, so anyone reading it would have assumed that the money would come off your airtime as per usual. When I discovered (soon after that) that the money was now going to come off my back account, and not my airtime, I was shocked by how under handed vodacom had been. I was clearly not the only one, because when I went into the vodacom branch in Longbeach Mall (Cape Town)on the 3rd Dec. 2019, to complain to an assistant there, he said that they had hundreds of complaints. When I asked him why they would do such a thing, he said "hey, if they can even score one guy's extra money, it's worth it". So I canceled the deal on my number (with the assistant) immediately. To make matters worse, I went to do some shopping, and afterwards I saw I had still not received any kind of notice on my phone. I went back to the vodacom assistant and asked him why I had not received notice and if I should not have a reference number from him or something. He said no. And he assured me it was canceled. Today I was horrified to see that the deal was never canceled on my account, I'm paying a huge amount more than I should be paying (I hardly ever use digital stuff, so all this extra data is wasted on me) and when I phoned the help line, the fault was blamed on me. what do you do when an assistant in a vodacom shop tells you a lie straight to your face? What recourse do you have? Nothing! And the help line does not care whether you were wronged or not. Talking to them is the equivalent of talking to a machine. But beyond the bad assistant at vodacom shop, I am more disgusted by vodacom underhanded methods to make more money. I would love to hear other people's experiences with the SPECIAL BLACK FRIDAY DEAL?!!!
