Vodacom Disappoints yet again.. NO SERVICE and customers have to deal with arrogant rude staff
I have a contract number being ********** with an IPhone 6 device with Vodacom which was upgraded and received in July 2017. The phone was used as a spare phone as I have a work/business prepaid Vodacom number /Samsung cellphone that I have made use of in the past 4 years. The contract number above ********** was merely used for personal contact with family and friends (WhatsApp, and email). However the device has been faulty since day 1 of me getting the iPhone from Vodacom. when you enquire on the battery life the stores /or the call centre ask you to do a software upgrade since this assists with the same. Never the less, recently the phone which is hardly ever used could not keep battery life and the battery would drain within 2 to 3 hours without being used. The phone would also die at 30% battery life. I called in and enquired on whether the phone is on warranty (not realizing the date in which the contract was upgraded last), the call centre agent confirmed that it is on warranty and that I should take the device to a store. I enquired with the Glen Vodacom, however, the store where they do book in's closes at 6pm which I could not make, I then drove from my home (glenvista) to eastgate Vodacom to book the phone in. At East gate Vodacom I advised the manager by the name of Craig Kage of tech issues /solutions that assisted me to book the phone In that the phone is under warranty and has battery issues. His response to me was that the repairs centre would confirm the warranty. (he at that point with that comment clearly saw on his computer system that the phone was not under warranty - as a manager / employee of Vodacom he should have advised me accordingly and had me make an informed decision as to whether I wanted to proceed with booking the phone in or not due to the fact that it did not have warranty of which I had thought it had of which I had voiced to the manager. after booking the phone in it took around 20days , when I received confirmation from repairs that the phone is not on warranty I advised the lady that Vodacom call centre confirmed it was on warranty that is the reason I booked it in , secondly Vodacom eastgate JHB tech manager Craig Kage knew that I thought the device was under warranty hence I was booking in same - on two points of contact Vodacom failed to provide me with information they had at hand in order for me to make an informed decision. when I collected the device from Vodacom Eastgate JHB branch I asked to speak with a store manager - but Craig Kage was called to assist, I advised him that firstly I was irate that I was not informed by him that the device was not on warranty as I would not have inconvenienced myself by booking the device in and not having my number on for close to 20 days and had I known it was not on warranty I would have simply replaced the device without the 20days of inconveniencing myself without my access to banking apps and the rest. Craig Kage response to me was he cannot remember and even if he apologizes it will not fix the situation. he never apologized or took responsibility. I further advised Craig Kage that I am not impressed since I was told that IPhone 6 has been discontinued and taken off the shelf as it cannot do certain updates - why then not recall the entire batch of faulty devices - his response was I need to take it up with APPLE, I then advised him that I pay Vodacom for the device and not apple. I handed my sim to Craig Kage and asked that he do the necessary; he then inserted the sim and advised me that my battery was drained hence the phone will not switch on. I then took the device signed and left. I got home from Vodacom and charged my phone for approximately 45minutes , after 30minutes of the phone charging and the battery life showing no change, I tried to switch the device on and it would not turn on. I called Vodacom Eastgate on the number ********** on the customer receipt received from Craig Kage and it said the number does not exist. I called Vodacom call centre and they gave me an alternate number for eastgate Vodacom being ********** of which said busy constantly. I then drove from my home with the device to Vodacom the glen and asked for assistance in calling Vodacom eastgate jhb. Vodacom the glen called Vodacom eastgate and there was no answer. The clerk then dialled Craig Kage on his cell - Craig Kage was in the eastgate store, I spoke with Craig Kage explained that my device was booked in for battery life span and now it comes back and will not switch on (surely he should have tested the device before allowing it to be collected from their store) - he then proceeded to say if I will not stop talking he will cut the call - all this without wanting to listen to my issues with HIS bad or No service (when I ask him is that customer service, he shouts that this is his private phone and his private time and he will not assist further. he then puts me on hold for very long; and then comes on and says hold on for the store manager (his manager) being Dwayne Bruce. when I asked Dwayne why I had to deal with Craig when I walked into the store and asked for a store manager in order to complain about Craigs initial point of service where I was not advised regarding the device not being on warranty when Craig was privied to that information. I further asked Dwayne the store manager whats his comment on what his tech manager (Craig ) had just shouted on the phone a few seconds ago being that its his time (after hours -yet his in the /store- and being that he will cut this call etc and not assist) Dwayne the store manager said he cannot say who is right or wrong. THIS to me was absolutely mind-blowing that MANAGEMENT in a huge co-operation as Vodacom do not have customer service s****s in which to recognise their staff's error in dealing with a PAYING CUSTOMER. I pay for a service and a service was not provided firstly and I had to deal with rudeness and arrogance over and above the inconvenience of driving to their store (eastgate from glenvista) for a now broken device. The store manager Dwayne bruce advises that he will collect the device from the glen Vodacom the next day but will have to see who will have to pay for the repairs if needs be. The device was not broken when I took it to Vodacom – I will not be allowing for fixing of the device and will not accept or pay for same – I want a new device . we do not book our phones in and expect to get it back with further issues it never had to begin with… I on the 23/2 after being told the device was not on warranty called Vodacom upgrades to confirm the date in which I can upgrade of which should be in a month or two - and was advised by the sales agent that the dates on Vodacoms system is inaccurate according to my dates I had given her - when I advised the sales agent that I have two devices and two numbers - and inquired if she is checking the accurate number - she started sighing and rudely with attitude advised that someone will call me in 5 days with this and she has logged a query. Seems even the sales agents cant be polite even when selling items!!! I thereafter put my sim ********** in my daughters phone and I see missed a call on the cell number that is not in use due to Vodacom eastgate - the voice message said the gentlemen that called was looking into my upgrade dates from Vodacom but cannot rectify as he is unsure which device I need to upgrade. I had given the women at the upgrades the cell number in question on the 23/2. is this the service we pay for at VODACOM, is it fair that we are told by a MANAGER I will cut this call and will not assist you , is it fair that we pay money monthly to this company BUT must be sent pillar to post and each time receive half or NO service at all PLUS arrogance from staff that have jobs on the basis of our purchases with Vodacom - if we (the customer) do not give business to Vodacom by way of our contracts then how else would they hire and pay staff??? maybe Vodacom staff need to be advised that should there be no customers there would be no work and hence no money for salaries. I need apologies in writing and I need a new phone with ALL the contents of that of my original IPhone. I will not part with my money every single month to obtain no service from the provider that takes the money each month, Plus have to deal with arrogant staff.
