Vodacom device insurance is a ****

I took a cellphone contract with Vodacom in January 2020 and around April I received a call from Vodacom insurance from an agent telling me that they see my device is not insured and asked me if they should insure my device and I gave them a go ahead. They asked me for my cellphone number and I gave them my primary number which is a telkom number which I'm using in the device (they refused to port my number as it was still under another contract), my daughter uses the vodacom contract number in her phone. They then adviced me that my phone is now insured and they will debit my insurance premium with my cellphone premium. Fast forward to 14th June 2021, I called vodacom to block my phone as I had lost it the previous day. They give me an ITC number and advice me to give it to my insurance to process a claim, I then tell them that I actually have insurance with Vodacom and they transfer me to the insurance department. I explain to the agent how my phone got lost, she asked for the ITC number and incident number from the SAPS which I give it to her. She then keeps me on hold for 15 minutes and comes back to tell me that my claim has been declined due to the contract sim card not being in use in the insured device. This came as a shock to me because I told them specifically that I'm using my telkom sim card in the device and they were well aware of it and they still continued to debit my account for over a year without having sent me the insurance documents. They then tell me that they will retrieve the recording and advice me of the outcome no later than 14 DAYS, I'm now left with no phone and a declined claim while my account was being debited R200 for insurance that according to them, was invalid from the start. Last time I checked, I was insuring the device and not the sim card. I will not be paying the cellphone contract further as this is unfair and poor customer service!!!
