Vodacom ***** Department A Disgrace

A SimSwap was *****ulently done on my number which resulted in ****mers having access to my WhatsApp and Vodacom clearly does not take accountablity for the lack of security measures in place. If the SimSwap was not successfully done and if your customer care consultants handled it correctly then none of this inconvenience would have been caused and my uncle would not have lost R1500!

VODACOM should employ people who are capable of doing their job! I am a posting their shocking response here, even after sending them the case number and screenshots, I am told to open a case. How on earth can they say that a SimSwap was attempted on my number when it was early executed successfully hence the hacking. This is alarming to say the least!

"Good day Customer,

Thank you for your email.

We would like to inform you that a SIM swap was attempted on your number without your permission. the SIM swap was successfully reversed, and your number has been placed on exclusion tables as a preventative measure.

For any future SIM swap requests, please note that they can only be processed at a Vodacom store. You will need to present your ID for further assistance.

Should you require additional information or details, you will need to report the incident and open a case at your nearest police station. The detective assigned to your case can then subpoena Vodacom with a Section 205 of the ******** Procedure Act (CPA) of 1977 for the required information.

Note: Please note that Vodacom does not have access to or control over third-party applications such as WhatsApp.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Regards, ***** Disputes Team."

You cannot just apologize for the inconvenience while someone lost their hard earned money because you don't have proper security checks in place!

Good day, it's been 4 days and I received no call from a consultant. When you say in your generic response, "in due course" what exactly is that time frame? I would have assumed that you would see a ***** case as important but clearly not. I am keeping all of this for my records.

No one made contact with me. I proved a police case number as mentioned and no feedback was given. I will escalate this to ICASA and the National Commission, because as a service provider your agent who assisted me was not well informed, as a service provider Vodacom was negligent and could have prevented the hackers ****ming my uncle. Your generic response is beyond frustrating.
