Vodacom deliberately makes it impossible to cancel a bonus phone with contract that was never requested

It is completely unacceptable and ********* to receive the runaround that the staff at Vodacom have given me in trying to cancel a bonus telephone phone & number that was provided without clarity. My understanding was that it was a spare phone should we need it, certainly not an additional contract. I went into their store at Canal Walk and explained that this phone number needed to be cancelled and they told me the only way to do this was to call *** - their Acitivation/Cancellation number. We have called this number 6 times and each time we asked to cancel this number our call got cut off or was left hanging. I am being charged for a phone contract that was never requested and is registered to someone else (not known to me), which in itself should be an ******* act. Finally a gentleman listened to me and promised to have a senior supervisor call me back to authorize this cancellation and of course this did not happen. He told me a story about this being an old account (2 years old ?) and him not having access to the necessary files to complete my request. This is a clearly a ruse that is used to pacify annoyed customers as we have now heard it more than once from different staff members. Vodacom is *******ly drawing money from my account which was never agreed to and I will demand a refund.

This is clearly just an automated response from Vodacom, as 6 days later and I have not been contacted by a consultant ! The runaround to remove something that was not requested is indicative of a company that does not care what their customers say about them. Any excuse in the book to hold onto ******* cash withdrawals and I will cancel my debit order if Vodacom does not fix this problem. How can such bad business practice be your method of operation ? This is clearly a business on a downward spiral.
