Vodacom de*****s customers by not acknowledging notice of contract terminations AND CONTINUES to BILL clients
Vodacom has behaved ********** in that it refuses to acknowledge the end of the contract term. It has continued to bill me even though I informed them months in advance that I will not be renewing said contract. Vodacom has disabled "Contract Termination" processes at the Branches and they DONOT provide a reference number for telephonic notification of ending a contract.
My contract term ended in 31 May 2021. THey called me in November 2020 to try to get me to renew the contract but I firmly declined and informed them that I do not want to renew but very definitely will terminate all dealings with Vodacom.
I visited the Constantia Village branch in Jan 2020 to provide further notice of termination. The store manager, Nuran (she refused to provide her surname) was extremely disrespectful and rude. She refused to assist with the termination and asked me to leave. When I said I will not leave without proof of notice of termination, she called the security guard. The staff tried to assist and said I should contact the store manager Dennis George, who did not answer any of my calls.
Today, 14 July 2021 I visited the Cavendish Link store, who confirmed that Vodacom has disabled the TErmination process at the branch, thereby making it virtually impossible to cancel a contract with Vodacom. I explained my story and a very helpful Daniel Msindisi very graciously offered to call the Head Office Collections department in order to dispute the billing which came through POST contract termination - making it **********.
While at the branch they assisted me with calling the Collections department and spoke to Bardho Gorai at 15h20 who took my complaint for the ********** billing post contract termination, but he refused to provide a reference number for my call, making it impossible to prove my complaint.
I called again and spoke with Seiphati Msimanga, explained the above again, and she too refused to provide a reference number. Only after insisting that I receive a copy of the recording of the conversation did she provide the reference number: ***
Vodacom makes it impossible to terminate a contract and does not provide any proof to the client of the termination notice. They then continue to bill the client, who cannot prove notice of termination This is ********** and makes Vodacom a "Suspicious Entity" in that their business modus operandi is irregular and suspicious and not transparent.
Vodacom de*****s customers by not acknowledging notice of contract terminations AND CONTINUES to BILL clients, **********ly. I strongly advice all individual and Corporate entities to discontinue business transactions with this suspicious entity since their modus operandi is tantamount to de*****ing the ordinary man in the street. Had I not been aware of my rights as a consumer, they would continue to bill me and possible raise a bad credit record against my name, THis then becomes a matter of defamation of my financial status, which I take very seriously indeed.
If Vodacom does not respond ethically, I will pursue this matter with the authorities and approach the Police with an affidavit of the incidences and lodge a matter with the courts.
Vodacom must 1) Reverse the ********** billing post the end of my contract term ( May and June: R1136,88) 2) STOP sending my messages stating that I am in arrears, when that is false and defamatory 3) Release the telephone numbers against said contracts and facilitate porting these to my new provider. I have purchased these telephone numbers over the terms of my contracts and Vodacom CANNOT hold my ASSETS ransom but blocking the use of my CELLPHONE NUMBERS. This amounts to THEFT. I will approach the police for a case number for a charge of theft if these cellphone numbers are not released with IMMEDIATE effect.
I am aware that this is a widespread issue, even on radio talkshows and across social media. It is time that Society and the broader Corporate Community STOPS doing business with shameful businesses like Vodacom.
