Vodacom deceives invalid 83 year old grandmother.

Vodacom deceives invalid 83 year old grandmother. On the 2nd of March, after being informed telephonically by Vodacom Key West that her upgrade to her cellular contract was finally available after waiting since December, Mrs Gesina van Tonder of Golden Harvest engaged her assistant to help her to fetch her two cell phones which she had chosen from a Vodacom brochure in December. The agreement that she had signed specified that the two cell phones would be supp**** at R299 per month. Each time that Vodacom was contacted, they told her to be patient, and that the phones were out of stock, and would be supp**** when available. Upon arriving, Mrs van Tonder was informed that the contract that she had signed was no longer valid, and was bul**** to take a new contract for the same deal at R499 per month. Her personal assistant requested to see the manager, and after a long delay he finally appeared. His justification was that the deal was no longer available, and upon being reminded that when the deal was signed it was done so in good faith as it was available at the time, he informed Mrs van Tonder that they would have to approach Vodacom HQ to re-instate the deal and that it would be necessary for her to wait another 4 days before they could give her the deal she had originally agreed upon. It is now the 3rd of April, and Vodacom has not kept to its part of the bargain. If you are thinking of dealing with Vodacom for the first time, take this as a warning. Their brochures and advertising promise deals that they do not deliver on. This misadventure has cost Mrs van Tonder a day of her time, and 3 hours of her personal assistants time. Take responsibility Vodacom – the old ways of dealing with people are no longer acceptable in the reawakened South Africa.
