Vodacom deceased estates - useless
Such disappointing service by the deceased accounts team. My father passed away in late 2024 and after finalizing the letters of executorship we got in touch with Vodacom's deceased estates team. My father held a top-up contract for himself and my mother in his name. The ask of Vodacom was to either transfer both contracts over to my mother's name or to convert both numbers to prepaid so that we could set up a new contract for my mother. The initial request was sent 15 November. We did not receive a response to this. In December, the account was placed into collections despite manually paying the account (as by this point my father's accounts had been frozen). Then on 31 January with absolute no warning, the contracts were cancelled outright and the numbers were released. My mother was left with no service and despite contacting Vodacom's deceased estates team on 5 days ago, they still don't have an answer. They blatantly disregarded an instruction from the deceased estate's executors and furthermore did not even communicate any of their plans to the account holders. My mother, who has had a tough enough time, is now being put through the wringer again because of Vodacom's absolute incompetence. Disgraceful that you would handle the circumstances of someone's death with such a complete lack of promptness, tact or consideration.
