Vodacom Debits for Fibre when there is no Fibre line in your area
In August 2019 a Vodacom representative met with us at our house, and promoted their Fibre network. The network was still being installed and there was no active fibre connection to our street. The consultant said that the network will be up and running within 6 weeks. We received our router 2 weeks later.
By the end of January 2020 we still had no fibre connection, due to there not being a line in our street. I phoned and after a lengthy discussion, the lady on the phone said that they do not know when the fibre will be installed in our area (so it's not the 6 weeks the consultant promised). I decided to cancel my contract, in part, because they could not deliver on what was promised. End of March, Vodacom debited R1000.00 from my account for Fibre (and there was still no active line) and again debited R600 from my account at the end of April (AGAIN, THERE IS NO FIBRE LINE IN OUR STREET). When I phoned them, the consultant argued with me and said that there is a line in our street, and he is arguing with me as I am watching the construction workers dig up to lay the cable. So at this point, there is a trench, but still no fibre cable and Vodacom stole R1600.00 from me for a Fibre line that does not exist, on a contract that was cancelled before it started.
