Vodacom Debit after contract cancellation and disputed alleged arrears since September 2025

My Vodacom contract, which included three lines, came to an end at the end of May 2026. I contacted Vodacom's cancellation department and requested that all three lines be cancelled and converted to prepaid.

During the cancellation process, I was specifically informed that there would be no further charges or debit orders in June. However, on 1 June, Vodacom debited my account again.

When I contacted the accounts department for clarification, I was informed by the agent that the debit order was processed because my account was allegedly in arrears since September 2025. This explanation does not make sense to me, as I have consistently paid my account every month and have never missed a payment. If there had genuinely been arrears on the account, I would have expected to receive notifications, reminders, or some form of communication from Vodacom.

Unfortunately, the agent was unable to clearly explain or justify this claim and simply insisted that the account was in arrears.

I would appreciate it if someone could investigate this matter and explain why I was debited after being assured that no further charges would be processed following the cancellation of my contract and conversion of all three lines to prepaid.

Thank you.
