Vodacom data contract_ My worst mistake.
I have been victimised by Vodacom. I opened a Vodacom data 2year contract ending in December 2025. Vodacom representatives were calling me after the contract end, telling me that I needed to renew the contract or upgrade, or I’ll stop receiving data and the contract will be cancelled. I kept telling them that where I stay, Vodacom has poor signal, therefore, I can’t renew the contract, they should cancel it. They lose interest when you tell them that you want to cancel, and never put you through to cancellation department. I eventually called cancellation department in January 2026, and they said that I failed the security questions, therefore, I needed to go to the branch to call from there and cancel the contract. I went to Vodacom store at Midrand mall where I was told that they don’t do cancellations or help by calling for the customer from the branch to cancel the account, that I needed to call from my phone. I told them that calling from my phone was unsuccessful, hence I was there. They claimed that they couldn’t help.
Before I knew it, Vodacom deducted the premium from the account. Premium of a contract that’s ended, but there was no data provided on my phone accompanying the deduction. I reversed the money, and tried calling Vodacom again, they said that they can’t help if I had previously failed the security questions, therefore I needed to go back to the branch.
I got hopeless about it and left it like that. They kept deducting the money without giving me any data, and I kept reversing my money. They then started threatening to block connection to my number and blacklist me, if I don’t pay the money. Like, pay the money for what, until when. They kept calling me with automated calls. They eventually handed my account to debt collectors. I thought they would help pass the message to Vodacom to resolve the issue, but they advised me to pay the amount that I don’t know what I’m paying for.
Vodacom ****med me. I just donated the amount, for the sake of my credit record. I don’t wish this victimisation for anyone. Very emotionally draining, not knowing where to report or get assistance.
