Vodacom contract to Prepaid WOES (botched migration to new system?)

Months ago I requested that my contract come to end on it's own end date (11/04) and be converted to Prepaid. It did not happen. I called a week later to find out why, they said it only gets done at month end (this is not right). Yesterday, 30/04, my number just stopped working at 11am! I tried loading Prepaid airtime, no joy, I tried switching it off and back on today on 01/05 and loading airtime, no joy! I have called several different numbers for 30 minutes this morning, nobody can help, since my number is moved to a 'new system' and they don't have visibility! How can call centers help if they aren't integrated and able to view all numbers across systems? What sort of botched migration is this that I cannot get help until 9am, so I sit around and have to pay for all these calls just to keep my number? Why was my number not correctly moved on the date my contract ended, as I requested? Why must I pay the bill for that month when my instruction was not followed? I need answers!

After 8 painful days to convert from a Vodacom contract and their decrepit system to their Prepaid 'new' system, which seems rather half-baked, an nobody seemed educated enough to actually assist with my problem, my mind was made up to move to FNB Connect. During the 8 days, for 4 days I had no cellphone number, the remaining 4 days I could not access the prepaid data I had bought because of some new C3D system that the call center could not view or help me with. Inefficiency incarnate! They completely ******ed up my number. I ordered my FNB Connect sim card on Monday using the seamless online banking portal, it arrived at my office on Tuesday morning. I went online and activated the Sim and was informed that my old (prepaid) sim would not work after 7pm and that I could use my new FNB sim from Wednesday morning, and I was happy with that. I was on a call at 7pm on Tuesday evening and heard a few sms's come through during that call. After hanging up, I checked and the messages informed me; 1. 19h32 "Your port will be processed between 19h30 and 23h00 on 10/5." 2. 19h43 "Congratulations! Your number has been successfully ported to your new FNB Connect SIM." 11 minutes! I popped the new Sim in, and I was on FNB Connect, did a quick balance check, my flexi month-to-month options were loaded, WOW! I am ****n away by the efficiency of FNB, and am looking forward to using the flexible offerings which I always questioned the usual service providers for NOT offering. They have lost out now, and well done to FNB for filling this massive gap in the market. I will be recommending and singing the praises of FNB to all near and far...
