Vodacom - contract & subscription ***** WASP billing

I’ve been a customer of Vodacom’s for the last 18 years. I was recently horrified to discover that I had been billed monthly for a ********** content subscription for at least the last year (who knows if this has been going on for longer) amounting to R2000. On discovery of this ***** I emailed Vodacom & texted “stop all” to 31050 only to be charged again the following month. On further research, I see that this ********** activity with ************ WASP providers has been going on for years to the benefit of the cellphone providers as more content equals more sales. In an article published by my broadband in 2020 Vodacom, once approached by the press, pledged to “refund customers on a proactive basis. For instance, in 2018 we took a decision to make ex-gratia payments to customers simply on the basis that they had not made use of certain services.” However I have been informed by Vodacom that as a “goodwill” gesture they will refund me only 3 months! This is infuriating, I would like all the money refunded plus their guarantee in writing that this sort of ********** activity has not taken place on this number or my other contracts prior to this incident.

Dear Vodacom Consumer Website Team
Are you saying that Vodacom have now reneged on their previous promise stated in a 2020 interview (as mentioned above) "to make ex-gratia payments to customers simply on the basis that they had not made use of certain services”? Are we simply at the mercy of ************ WASP providers with no protection from Vodacom? How can I be sure that this ********** activity will never happen on any of my Vodacom numbers in the future?
