Vodacom Contract ****

On Thursday 31 January 2019, I received a telephone call from the Vodacom call center informing me that I will be receiving a free wifi device with 5 gigs day time and 5 gigs of nighttime data at no additional cost to me plus a R50.00 monthly rebate on my existing contract. I then questioned the lady. She informed me that Vodacom is giving this to all the loyal customers at no extra cost. Being sceptical about this freebie I contacted the Vodacom call center to confirm the offer and I was told that everything is above board as far as the offer was concerned. I also confirmed numerous times to make sure I had it right and was told that that I'm getting a router at no extra cost with 5gigs day and 5 gigs night at no extra cost and was told I am currently paying R258,58 for your contract but now you will only be paying R199 and the recording will be proof of the **** they are running. I then left at that and waited for delivery of the router. Courier delivered on Friday 1st February but I was not at home. I called Vodacom Friday afternoon and was told that it would be delivered on Monday 4th February 2019 but it was not delivered. On Tuesday morning I called the courier company and was told that they are either delivering on Tuesday or Wednesday which meant I had to stay at home Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday to wait for delivery. I then decided to call Vodacom to complain about the delivery. At this point, I was told that it is not a freebie but I would be billed R199.00 per month to which I vehemently objected because it was confirmed twice before then by Vodacom staff that there would be no charge to me. I was then transferred to another department and spoke to Nabule Goba who took down my details and complaint and supp**** me with a query number 23255. I also told her to cancel this so-called freebie. I also asked her to open an investigation inquiry as all calls are recorded. I then proceeded to the Vodacom shop in Blue Route Mall in Tokai to speak to the manager to complain about the **** but the shop assistant refused to call the manager but just kept on telling me it was not a **** but a misrepresentation by the call center agent and that I am still liable for payment. After repeatedly asking him to call the manager he eventually went to speak to the manager who showed no managerial s****s by staying in his office. I also asked the shop assistant to have the matter investigated but I got no joy out of him. Eventually, I got a call from Vodacom on Wednesday 6th February 2019 informing me that the deal has been canceled bit the person who called me could not confirm whether my query was being investigated or not.

How many other people have been ****med by Vodacom in this manner? As all communication is recorded it should be easy to check the facts but it seems that the ******** was created by Vodacom management as their staff was fully aware of the marketing method of the company.
