VODACOM CONTRACT/SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 EDGE
I upgraded my existing Vodacom contract on 27 June 2015 to a contract that offers a Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge as part of the contract. On day 11 after the upgrade [7th July] I reported to Metro Store in Menlyn that the phone drops calls and that many of my incoming calls do not register - I get sms's to notify me of several missed calls. They referred me to Vodacom customer care in Menlyn. They changed some of the network settings on the phone [LTE network was already disabled] as they suspected that this was the cause of the problem. I returned the phone to them on the same day when it started overheating. When I complained about the fact that I am paying for a top of the range product and will now be without a phone for an unlimited period of time Vodacom's defence was that they only sell airtime and that they are not responsible for the device. I was referred to Samsung - phoned their agency in Garsfontein, visited their shop in Menlyn and phoned their head office in Johannesburg. After a lot of trouble and many wasted hours I am left without a phone with only a reference number obtained at a Samsung call centre and the liability of a contract without any service.
