VODACOM CONTRACT CANCELLATION NIGHTMARE

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WE HAVE LEGISLATION SUCH AS THE CPS WHEN IN FACT CONSUMERS ARE NOT PROTECTED AND BIG CORPORATES LIOKE VODACOM HAVE THERE WAY.

I signed up for a Vodacom contract on their online platform late December 2016.

On applying for the contract i requested that the agent please port my existing number which was on a diffrent network (ALL MY BANKING ETC IS LINKED TO MY EXISTING NUMBER).

She assured me that this would be done and that for me to effect this i need ed to take the devise to Vodacom store on receipt and let them activate and finalise the port.

When i received the devise on the 3rd of January I did not activate it.

Two days later i went to the Sandton City outlet and relayed what the agent who assisted me with the sale told me. They said they could not help me and that a port is done at inception. They said confirmed that the online sales team was not entirely clued up and they had in the past had to deal with clients who had been given the wrong information by the online sales team.

I then called the contact centre and asked that they please fetch the phone as i had to return it the devise the same way i received it.

The devise was finally collected on the 11th of January 2017 by a RAM courier contracted to Vodacom.

I was told to call in two days later to log the cancellation.

So on the 13th i was give a cancellation reference: EC-0BDX-267PFW by a Eugene Man***i.

Onthe 27th of February i received a bill for R495 and the full amont was deducted off my bank account on the 27th of February.

Now when i try call the contact centre i am told that they cannot pick up that reference, or that there systems are down etc.

I cancelled this contract within the period stipulated by Vodacom and the CPA but i am still being charged.

I made no calls with the sim card and returned the device intact with sim card and all and them i am cahrged.

Can this injustice against innocent consumers just stop!!!!!!!

These corporate giants and their thievery is uncalled for. The CPA is supposed to protec me but all it is a peice of legislation with no effect.

VODACOM PLEASE REFUND ME!!!!!

IT WAS THE INCOMPETENCE OF YOUR AGENT THAT CAUSED THIS DILEMMA IN THE FIRST PLACE NOW I MUST PAY FOR IT.
