Vodacom contract cancelation

After years of dissatisfaction with Vodacom I decided to cancel my contract. This Decision was taken after I realized that I had been billed for more that 18 months for a free promotional data bundle that I was told was added as a deal during my upgrade and that all my airtime advances were being added to my Vodacom bill in addition to being deducted when I recharge my account.

The Upgrade deal also included a Free device with another sim to it. Once the promotion ended, I tried to cancel the second line and I was told I could not cancel it, as it was linked to the main contract and cancelling it meant cancelling the other.

I then opted to cancel the main line as well to ensure I do not have to pay for what was supposed to be a free line and requested that both lines be converted to pre-paid this request was done in the month of may. the request was logged by Ishmael Matshotyana. To my surprise, in the month of June I found out that he intentionally cancelled one contract and left the other active. This was due to the fact that every time I asked to be taken to the cancelations department I was actually taken to the customer retentions department whose mandate is to retain customers.

I then logged multiple cancelations and escalations and sent emails from the month of June to the month of October, and still no assistance was provided. I then contacted my bank and requested they stop Vodacom from Debiting my account as this contract should have been cancelled in June. This resulted in Vodacom reporting me for missing payments on the month of August and September and the last time I called I was told that my account was handed over to the legal department. This has negatively impacted my credit profile, which is unfair as my cancelation was logged in May. I have went through every available avenue, From going to the Vodacom store to calling the customer care line and nothing has seemed to change as I am Still yet to be assisted. My request is for the missed payments to be removed from my credit profile. and for Vodacom to send me evidence that this has been done.

Hi, Can you please explain to me why the contract was still active in August when a cancellation was logged in May? You are correct in saying that the debit orders were removed by me. That is because I was being charged for a contract that was supposed to be CANCELLED in June, and was still active in August. I followed up for months and nothing was done, which resulted in me requesting my bank to stop the debit orders. because I refused to be charged for a cancelled contract.

I want all those missed payment notifications to be removed for August and September as I Did not have an active contract with Vodacom in those months.

I would also like proof in the form of a paid up letter from Vodacom that was sent to the credit Bureaus as this is not reflecting in my credit profile. as it stands, my profile reflects that I still owe Vodacom R300 rand.

This issue has not yet been resolved as my credit profile is still negatively impacted by a contract which I requested to be cancelled and the customer retentions department intentionally kept it active to retain me with Vodacom.

may you please ensure that this matter is dealt with.

Kind regards,
