Vodacom content to devastate a child through poor service and defunct product
In December 2016, we purchased a Dokiwatch Contract through a Vodacom . This was my young son, Lee's christmas present. He has Vestibular Sensorial Syndrome, and we purchased the Dokiwatch Smart Watch so he could be in contact with us at all times as he suffers from severe anxiety. Firstly, it took until January for the watch to arrive. We had a holiday booked in Cape Town, and we were promised that the Dokiwatch would be arranged for pick up at a Vodacom Store. However, that never happened. When Vodacom Hillcrest finally received it, they called to say that they had no idea how to operate the device, never mind knowing how to switch it on!! So began our nightmare experience with Vodacom which has resulting in us cancelling the nine contracts we have with Vodacom as they come up for renewal. Finally, Lee received his watch. Within the first two days , the *****s fell out the back of the watch. The on-site solution was going to be to find similar *****s and force them in! We declined that service, insisting that it be returned to be repaired. Eventually, after a couple more weeks, Lee was given a different Dokiwatch. This watch never worked. It constantly switched off, certain properties never functioning. Repeatedly, we had to take the watch back and each time we were informed that Vodacom did not know how to make the watch work. They said they were having to contact Dokiwatch itself to try find answers. The final straw was ...The watch heated up to such an extent it was burning my son's wrist! Not acceptable! We handed the watch back. To date 26 March 2018, Vodacom has failed to resolve this matter. However, if we had to stop paying the monthly installment , which we have never failed to honor, we can be guaranteed that Vodacom would freeze all other contracts, because that's how Vodacom rolls. We have been dealing with the apparent head of KZN Vodacom. However, that has not resulted in any solution. Twice Vodacom has offered inferior replacements. Inferior not only in that they are not smart watches, but inferior in price. The Dokiwatch was R3000. The first offer a month ago was R399! The latest offer is a child's tracking device!!! The person we are dealing with at Vodacom, the apparent head of KZN, keeps making promises that don't materialise, from promises that a solution is being finalised to repeated promises of phone calls on particular days to inform us of progress...but the calls don't arrive. We have called him , to have the call ended, or answered with the response that he is busy and will call back in a few minutes, ......never calls back. I have emailed him, I have sent him messages...his response is denial, defense and no resolution nor desire to find a solution either. It appears that Vodacom has no respect for the client/consumer at all. In this case, it so sad that even though they are fully aware that the end- consumer is a child with sensorial anxiety.....it remains of no consequence. The fact that Lee could have been a future consumer, will be ruled out as his experience has shown him repeatedly( every time a false promise is made, enormous disappointment results owing to expectations being crushed over and over again) that Vodacom will force you to pay but do not feel forced to respect their consumers by ensuring the products they offer are reputable , and definitely obvious that Vodacom's guarantees are null and void at the end of the day. Having to give a rating of one star is infuriating as no star of any nature is deserved. An enormous red cross would be more applicable.
