Vodacom condones ***** and I need to suffer for it

I ported my number from Vodacom to another network in December 2016 as my contract expired in December 2016. In January 2017, I received an invoice for over R1000 with a new cellphone number on the invoice. At no point did I take out a new contract with Vodacom for this number. I called the Cancellations department on 12/01/2017 and after being bounced to the accounts deparment and back again, I spoke to Jason, who is one of the managers in cancellation. After checking their system, he confirmed that this is wrong and it looks like *****. He committed to having the "new" contract cancelled and send me confirmation of such. On 19/01/2017, I phoned again to follow up as I received no feedback. I spoke to Hipatience Mnisi who is also a supposed team leader in cancellations. After putting up with 40 minutes of her incompetence and rudeness where she tried to convince me that the new number has been created because I did not follow up to make sure that my contract got cancelled, I requested to speak to her manager at which point she hung up on me. I then got hold of Lesego and her manager Khanjisile Zulu who were more helpfull. Khanijisile told me that the call was only logged on their system on 16/01/2017 (despite the fact that I called on 12/01/2017) and that they are investigating it appears to be **********. She then put me through to Thandi Ndlogu in customer care who explained to me that they will not cancel the debit order on my account untill they have concluded their investigation, so I will have to keep on paying for a ********** account despite the fact that Vodacom is fully aware of the fact that ***** is being committed. Why should I, as the (ex) customer be prejudiced if the problem is on their side!! My next stept is to open up a ***** case at the SAPS against Vodacom.
