Once upon a time (many many years ago), I had a Vodacom contract & it expired so my number became a prepaid number...
Fast forward... Got a new job 2017 and had to take a new contract, because I've always had good service from Vodacom I took another contract with Vodacom (for work purposes).
Fast forward again.... Got retrenched 30 July 2020.i I received a SMS from Vodacom about upgrading... So I called Vodacom December 2020 to cancel my contract since it was expiring (to make sure it doesn't go to the month to month thingy thingy). I was asked to call in January 2021, because the contract was expiring in February 2021 and I did that.
Fast forward... I received a call from Commit Technologies/ Elite Mobile on behalf of Vodacom... to convince me take another contract. I told the lady on the other end of the call my situation (retrenchment story) and she went on to say:
"... if you don't take another contract Mr Millie, you'll lose your number..."
So I agreed to a R65 contract (receive 120 minutes or R120 airtime every month). Only to receive a statement with add ons (insurance and 2GB data) amounting to R300/R400. I received another call from another company calling on behalf of Vodacom(to ask me why I haven't paid), told them my story and what I agreed to. The lady said: "... in fact Mr Millie Vodacom /Commit Technologies **** to you.. You were misled into a contract... because you don't need to take a contract to keep your number after your contract has expired.. "
Vodacom canceled my number Saturday 18 Dec 2021 without any notification, for no good reason... And I have the same number on the CVS I sent out.
I called Vodacom Saturday 18 Dec 2021,they called back Monday but I'm still in limbo with a canceled phone. Even after I spoke to Mpho from their accounts department (who I think she was rude, the least you can do is to listen to me/my story and not 'already know what I'm going to say'... Just saying!
Now: - Vodacom and Commit Technologies will not acknowledge that they ****, sending me from pillar to post. -Vodacom says I owe them R1500 - Vodacom canceled my number (same number I have on my CV, don't know how I'll be employed when they can't get hold of me). - Sent my number to Vodacom legal department, tarnished my credit record.
