28 April 2017

Dear Sir/Madam

Re: Vodacom SA service levels on par with ANC’s service levels

My tale of woe begins earlier this week when after much deliberation I decided to port my number which I've had with Vodacom for the last 12 years to MTN.

When I first requested the port to take place it was declined because my number was still under contract, but only for another 4 days, please also note I had given Vodacom notice of my intention on the middle of March 2017 as required.

I phoned your cancellations department to then confirm when the port could be done and was at the 11th hour offered a deal match which upon careful perusal was much better than what MTN was offering. Its amazing how a better offer gets made to long standing customers only after they've ready to jump ship because of poor service and average product offerings. Enticed by the generous offer which i repeated and confirmed several times because it sounded to good to be true I accepted and made arrangements to have the handset delivered this week because I would be out of town next week.

I should have smelt a nkandla sized sugarcane rat when such a generous offer was made.

It was after that when the bollywood drama started in earnest. On Monday when this happened I was told delivery of the handset would be made on Wednesday, on Wednesday I received no notification of the device being delivered and called again. I was then assured everything had been confirmed and uploaded in the background and Friday was the day for delivery, which was the last day that i could take delivery.

Today is Friday and do you think I have a device or the renewed contract i was offered…..the answer is a resounding HELL NO! Even if i went to Hillbrow and acquired some heavy narcotics from some shady drug dealers, who by the way know more about product quality and service delivery than you ever will, I still wouldn't be able to hallucinate the handset and contract we discussed, even though there is evidence of this on call logs that are recorded for your protection and mine. Thats so cute!!

Between the hours of 13:50 and 15:00 today, the day of our supreme being 28 April 2017, I phoned your various call centre’s 5 times, spoke to 5 different people, was told that a manager wouldn't speak to me and had none of my issues addressed. My upgraded contract was loaded with all the incorrect deal details, and the handset was not delivered because of procedures which I was not informed of from the very beginning.

The essence is this, you assured me of delivery of a new handset this week and that didn't happen and you offered me a deal matching contract to keep my business and that didn't happen. I have since demanded that my contract be cancelled completely and that my number be ready for porting to MTN by tomorrow and you know what, I’ll bet my very extensive Deadpool underpants collection which are all still boxed to maintain maximum collectors value, that the wont happen either.

If Vodacom was the Titanic with the service levels you practice, all the guests aboard your ship would have been grateful to go to their icy deaths and would have probably said a collective prayer to manifest the iceberg that sank the ship just to be put out of their misery.

Its now 15:45 and nobody has gotten back to me even though I have requested that a manager contact me.

You may well be the largest cell phone operator in Southern Africa but based on my experiences thats all you are, large.

Regards

Your thrilled soon be Ex-Customer who is taking my number with me

Robert Lopes
**********
