Vodacom - chasing you to be either under or not insured, when you upgrade
Be careful, they are either *********** or ************. I recently upgraded my wife's cellphone on my account & claimed for my Samsung Fold 5 cellphone. Firstly upon claiming I was advised that cellphone is not covered. My previous phone which I upgraded was still insured, even though I signed documentation during the upgrade to insure the new cellphone. I mean who would retain insurance on old phone & not the new one. This resulted in me being under-insured through their lack of competence & transparency. Note the monthly invoice does not specify the phone insured so you have no clue it is incorrect. They then updated the insurance, however did not respond to what a phone cover should have been R48 000 was reduced to R25,000. To my horror when I enquired as to the insurance cover for my wife's phone in Dec'25, they had again not insured the new one, only the old one after again signing new upgrade docs including insurance. This was in two different Vodacom shops. I feel I was misrepresented, lack of transparency & out of pocket with a lesser cellphone, which I still have to pay until the end of contract. PS when I complained, ai was informed it is my responsibility to insure my new cellphone. If this was the case, then why sign docs at upgrade & why not inform me? Very disappointed after supporting them with my business & then personal since 1998.
