Vodacom charging me for a extra month after its been cancelled

My contact was to expire on 11 April 2016, I did not wish to do further business with Vodacom as their customer service is horrid and they have overcharged me on several occasions. I therefore contacted Vodacom December 2015 to request them to make a note that I wish to cancel, at the end of January 2016 I made the exact phonecall to cancellations department who advised me there was no such note from December. I phoned in February 2016 with regards to the same request and received the exact same answer, that no notes were made. I phoned in March and April and received the exact same answer. Every consultant ive spoken to since December with regards to my request advised me to switch off my phone on 11 April and switch it back on and The number will then be prepaid. So on 9 May 2016 I settled my final balance of R212.00 as advised by Vodacom cancellations department, and was satisfied that I am now finished with this said company. I did not receive any further communication from Vodacom untill Friday 22 July 2016 when I received a shocking sms and email stating that I have been handed over to Legal Collections. I called them immediately to enquire about this and they advised me that I only cancelled my contract on 31 May 2016 and am therefore still owing them R251.50. I am fumingly upset about this as I made sure that from my side I do everything to make sure i do not pay a extra cent to Vodacom more than I have to. I spoke to Riona who said she will explain the situation to Cancellations and contact me the same day with answers. I never received my call, but did receive a SMS today (2 working days after promised) to inform me that they do not have any proof of my April cancellation and I am therefore still liable to pay the outstanding amount. Now that is very convenient and totally unacceptable behaviour from such a big company as Vodacom. I have been a loyal client for 22 years and this is how they ***** money from me. I am absolutely disgusted in Vodacom to say the least.
