Vodacom charge R160 to RICA a new prepaid sim card
I purchased a sim card on 15 November and requested a RICA at the Vodacom Cape Gate store in Cape Town. I was Charged R165 which I found odd. Looking at the slip I realised it is R5 for the sim card, which is the only amount I expected to pay. I paid only R5 for a sim card and a RICA was done about 1 year ago at MTN.
The slip also states R160 for Data and Tech support. I did not receive ANY Data or tech support. I literally only got the sim card, still closed in the packet after the RICA was done and that is how I walked out the store. I still had to go and insert it in a phone, get the number and buy R10 airtime to activate it.
I see that RICA should be a free service and while the slip does not state I was charged for it, the wording was then just adjusted to basically charge me for the RICA.
Is this actual Vodacom policy? Because why would I ever buy a Vodacom sim card again when an MTN sim card with RICA is just R5. I know for a fact they did not charge me such a ridiculous fee previously.
Please provide me with feedback as to what Data and Tech support I received that was not related to the RICA that could possibly have been charged for at R160? Or is this a way to fool customers so they pay extra for a RICA?
