Vodacom Cape Gate – Misleading Information & Zero Effort to Assist

Vodacom Cape Gate – Misleading Information & Zero Effort to Assist

On 5 December 2025, I upgraded my contract at Vodacom Cape Gate with assistance from Joshline Jenine. I was told the Galaxy Watch 8 had to be ordered, but was clearly reassured that stock would be available by 6 December or at the latest 8 December.

On 8 December, I phoned the store for an update. I was told Joshline was off, and the branch manager refused to contact her to confirm the information and promises made to me. I was also told that no Vodacom store has stock of the Galaxy Watch 8.

This was immediately proven false. With just one call, I contacted Vodacom Canal Walk, who confirmed they currently HAVE stock available.

The lack of honesty, transparency, and effort from the Cape Gate store is unacceptable. No investigation, no proper feedback, nothing. If I had been correctly informed upfront, I would have gone to Canal Walk the same day and completed my upgrade without any issues.

This has wasted my time and caused unnecessary frustration. I am requesting:

An explanation for the misinformation

Accountability from the staff involved

Immediate assistance in securing the Galaxy Watch 8

Steps to prevent this from happening to other customers

This level of service from a major brand like Vodacom is unacceptable. I expect a prompt and satisfactory response.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Vodacom Cape Gate, and I am submitting this complaint because every attempt to get clear answers has been ignored or met with generic copy-paste responses. I upgraded two contracts on 5 December 2025. The consultant, Joshline, promised that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 (44mm) would arrive on 6 December, or 8 December at the latest. This was stated clearly at the time of signing. On Sunday, 7 December, I returned to the store for a SIM swap and saw the same consultant. She did not mention any delay, stock issue, or problem — despite greeting me and hearing me say “See you tomorrow.” She allowed me to leave believing everything was on track. On Monday, 8 December, the entire story changed. I was told:
  • The consultant was off and the manager refused to contact her.
  • There is “no stock anywhere in the country.”
  • Nothing can be done except “wait.”
  • My phone was already activated so I “cannot cancel.”
However, this was proven FALSE when I personally phoned Vodacom Canal Walk, and they confirmed they do have stock immediately available. Since then, I have repeatedly asked the Cape Gate store:
  • Whether the warehouse has stock
  • Whether anyone contacted the consultant
  • Whether this miscommunication was investigated
  • Why I was given incorrect information
  • Why I’m being made to wait for something I was promised
Still NO answers — only a single repeated line: “Once we have stock, we will contact you.” This is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of accountability and customer care. Vodacom Social Media Support has confirmed that the warehouse does have stock, which directly contradicts what the Cape Gate store keeps telling me. As of now:
  • I have no ETA
  • No apology
  • No transparency
  • No investigation
  • No responsibility taken
  • And possibly a wait until January 2026 — all because I was misinformed at the upgrade.
If Vodacom Cape Gate had been honest from the beginning, I could have driven to Canal Walk and left with both watches the same day. This situation needs urgent intervention and resolution. I request Vodacom to take responsibility, escalate this properly, and provide the devices as initially promised.

Today is 10 December and I am still without any resolution from Vodacom Cape Gate (the store across from Checkers) regarding my upgrade.I upgraded my contract on 5 December. The consultant assured me that the Galaxy Watch 8 would arrive either the next day (6 December) or by Monday the latest (8 December). I re**** on this promise when completing the upgrade. Even when I returned to the store on Sunday 7 December for a SIM swap, there was still no mention of any stock issues. On Monday the 8th, when I called to follow up, I was told the consultant was off and the manager refused to contact her to verify what was promised to me. I was also incorrectly told that no Vodacom stores nationwide had stock. This was false — I phoned Canal Walk myself and they confirmed they have stock available. It is now 10 December. I have received no feedback, no investigation, no accountability, and no timeline. I am essentially being ignored after being misled. I spent an entire day trying to get answers and ended up with none. This situation reflects extremely poor customer service and a complete lack of responsibility from Vodacom Cape Gate. I am requesting urgent escalation and proper resolution. A paying customer should not have to chase basic information or be given incorrect statements.
