Vodacom can't seem to get an eSIM activation right - three weeks later

I'm not one to run to Hellopeter at the first sign of a struggle, but after three weeks, I am out of options. After a two week struggle just to get the Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE version, it has been a two week struggle to finally get my QR activation code from Vodacom. After I have registered the eSIM, neither my phone nor watch (eSIM) could make or receive calls. I went o a Vodacom shop the next morning and after a network synchronization, my phone at least worked again. The eSIM has never been able to make calls (it just immediately states "Call Ended") nor does it ring / able to receive calls in standalone mode. I have phoned 082135 several times and, although most consultants are sympathetic to my two week + ordeal, all they can seemingly do is log a support query (I have MANY reference numbers at this point) and escalate it to a "Solution Expert". I usually get an SMS shortly afterwards stating that the support query has been closed, while nothing has seemingly changed. I get promised calls from someone higher up in the support chain, which never happens. They have tried a network synchronization again and did an eSIM Reset Profile (whatever that means) and, out of desperation, I suggested that the VoLTE service be removed and added again, but now it seems like that isn't even happening. Some consultants do not even know what an eSIM is. One lady kept insisting that I remove the sim card from the watch and re-insert it. Repeatedly, even though I told her it was impossible as it is an eSIM (look it up...). She finally told me that she can't assist me if I refuse to co-operate.

Since 22/03, I must have spent easily 3 hours on hold or talking to someone on 082135 (I can submit the call records), visited several Vodacom stores, tried the chat service at least 3 times (that I can recall now), and tried Vodacom Support on Twitter. There is a support email address listed ********** on the email with the QR code, which I've also mailed. The only reply I got back was from ********** stating: "Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: ********** The email address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's email address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk."

Either own up and release a statement that you have released a service which can't be supported (yet?) or get someone on my case that can resolve the issue. I have been a Vodacom customer for 16 years, but that is about to change. Before you remind me that another network won't be able to offer me the eSIM functionality, from my personal experience, neither can Vodacom. I sincerely hope that there could be a positive outcome to this, but after three weeks, I'm starting to lose both hope and patience.

Thank you. I am still waiting for someone to contact me. The VoLTE service was at least enabled again yesterday afternoon, but the issue persists. I assume that something has gone wrong with the activation process and perhaps the best course of action would be to redo the entire activation and generate a new QR code. I have tried to get assistance from ********** but they advised me that they do not deal with individual accounts and referred me to 082111 (sort of given up on this option by now) or ********** I have forwarded the mail to this address. PLEASE.

UPDATE: The matter has been resolved by doing a SIM swap on the primary number (not sure if this was necessary, but since my SIM card was 6+ years old, I figured we might as well) and removing and then adding the eSIM and Multi Ring services again. The watch now dis It is unfortunate that it took so long to resolve, but it is a new product offering and I believe that the teething problems have been ironed out. I have been assisted by very friendly and competent staff from Vodacom and especially the local Vodacom store. My sincere thanks to all who have assisted in resolving this matter. I have requested admin to take down this review, but was informed that this won't be done and I need to update my review instead.
