Vodacom can't migrate customers and *****s their paid-for data and airtime in the process
On 14 September I went into the Vodacom store in La Lucia mall and spoke to Jordan about changing my contract as it was due to be upgraded. He looked at my usage and recommended a new package which seemed appropriate. I signed the paperwork and asked when it would take effect. I was told 1 October - all good. Yesterday (on 30 September) I tried to make an urgent call and got a message to say that I have exceeded my talk time and need to top up. I thought that was strange but quickly loaded R100 onto my account so that I could make my call. I then tried to get hold of someone at Vodacom but was unable to reach anyone (which is also ridiculous). Eventually I left work and went back to the store to speak to Jordan again. I told him what I had experienced and his response was (wait for it) "that shouldn't have happened". BUT IT DID. I told him to call someone and find out what had happened and he came back to say that my package had been switched ON 30 SEPTEMBER and that my data and minutes would be loaded on 1 OCTOBER. MY issue is the following: 1. I was not told that I would be without facilities to make calls or access data for a day while this migration happened. I would not have agreed to this if I had been - this is CONTRACT ***** 2. Any migration should be SEAMLESS without inconvenience to your customers 3. Why did the data and talk time that I had accumulated on my previous contract not carry over? I have PAID for those and they have effectively been ****** You need to do the following: 1. Port all of the minutes over to my new contract as they belong to me 2. Compensate me for the inconvenience of being cut off for a day without warning and having to leave work to try and fix it 3. Inform your customers better going forward that they are going to be inconvenienced when migrating because your systems are too ridiculous to be able to migrate your customers seamlessly I await your urgent response, failing which I will lodge a compliant with CGSO.
