Vodacom cancels upgrades without notifying the customer
I would like to understand from Vodacom how can an agent cancel my upgrade without contacting me via phone, sms or email? As an existing customer of Vodacom I am contacted for new sales or promotions yet for a contract that I called in for and went through the entire process I was not contacted so my upgrade was canceled. As a consumer I entered into a legal deal with Vodacom yet it was just canceled by 1 party.
I expect my upgrade to be reinstated for the exact date that I purchased it and that I will receive the accessories associated to the deal. The below trail of events indicates that Vodacom is wrong for cancelling my upgrade.
On Wednesday, 28 March 2019 I contacted the Vodacom call center to inquire on a package structure and a promotion they were hosting with Huawei. The promotion was that the first 6000 customers that buy a Huawei P30 deal would receive accessories for the device. I asked the agent if there were already 6000 customers and she advised that she doubts there is. This promotion was what was attracted me to the deal. After a discussion regarding my questions, the agent advised she can do the deal for me over the phone, so I agreed and we went forward with it. I clearly remember asking the agent about the pricing and how I will be charged, after explaining that to me, I responded “Yes” I agree to the terms and conditions. The agent went on to explain there is a backlog of the devices and I was fine to wait for the device. Here I am a very happy customer of Vodacom, and then, on Thursday, 04 April 2019, a week later I receive a call from the upgrade sales department to upgrade my contract and I was absolutely confused. I explained to the agent why I was confused and what happened a week before. He then went on to explain that my upgrade had been canceled. When I asked why he said it seems as though I was uncontactable. However, he read out the number capture by the previous agent and it was correct. The agent went on to try to offer me a different deal and I refused because I know what I have ordered and what I want. He then asked me to go online and buy the deal and I refused because firstly, the deal was no longer available on the site and secondly, I have already been through the process and now I am expected to go through it again due to poor process following.
