Vodacom cancellations & unauthorized debits

Vodacom – Unauthorised Debits After Settlement & Incorrect Credit Listing

I am dissatisfied with the way Vodacom has handled my account cancellation and the subsequent issues that followed.

On 20 May 2025, I contacted Vodacom to request an early cancellation of my contract. I was clearly advised that the settlement amount would include all outstanding amounts and that no further debit orders would be processed once payment was made. I accepted the quote, signed the documentation, and settled the account in full on 26 May 2025. I also received confirmation that my account was closed and converted to prepaid - No formal letter just an email.

Despite this, Vodacom:

Debited my account on 24 October 2025 Attempted another debit on 19 December 2025 without my authorisation

To make matters worse, I later discovered that I had been listed with the credit bureau for nine missed payments — even though my account had been settled.

I have made multiple attempts to resolve this through Vodacom’s customer service, collections department, and in-store visits. Each time, I was promised feedback or a callback, which never happened. Even queries logged were not properly followed through.

This experience reflects:

Poor internal processes Lack of accountability Failure to honour confirmed settlement agreements Serious negligence in credit reporting

This has now negatively impacted my credit profile, which is completely unacceptable.
