Vodacom Cancelation

I called Vodacom customer care on the 10th of May to move my expired contract package to prepaid. However, the lady I spoke to did not want to allow it. She kept asking me why, after eight years, I would like to move to another operator. She explained that the contract could only be moved to prepaid once I gave her a reason. I told her I was moving to another network because they offer better packages. I also mentioned that the signal is not as good as it once was.

She then continued to probe, which started to irritate me. Eventually, after I threatened to escalate the matter to her superiors and have a copy of the recording sent to me (She also seemed to enjoy the power she had), she initiated the cancellation. However, I later discovered that my entire package was suspended, even though my account is always up to date. I could not make or receive calls, send SMS, or use data.

My visit to the nearest Vodacom Store was a futile attempt to resolve the issue. Despite their efforts to unsuspend the number, I was left waiting and struggling for almost an hour. The best they could offer was a reactivation process that would take a whole day. This prolonged inconvenience is not what I expect from a service provider I have trusted for so long.

Please understand the depth of my disappointment as a loyal Vodacom subscriber for over 8 years. The account suspension, a deliberate and spiteful act by the customer call center agent, is utterly unacceptable. This incident has tarnished my perception of a once esteemed company. As a professional who relies on my phone for work, yesterday's experience was nothing short of a nightmare.

Everything works well until you want to cancel your service.

Please be careful

My sim card is still suspended at the time of writing
