Vodacom, can you hear me?
I challenged Vodacom in my previous review to explain why it was so difficult to cancel a contract. To their credit they responded quickly to the review and promised that a consultant would be in contact to resolve my query. In fact, a consultant was quick to send me an email promising to assist me with the RENEWAL of my contract. I beg your pardon Vodacom? The consultant seemed confused when I pointed out that I in fact wanted to CANCEL my contract. She referred me to her manager, who then redirected me to her assistant, who would redirect my call to the call centre in order to cancel my contract. Low and behold, every time the consultant heard the word CANCEL my call was either put on hold or the person could no longer hear me. The assistant tried at least four times to connect me to the call centre - every call resulting in me being put on hold whilst listening to the same 'inspiring' music. Eventually, after a few hours and many phone calls, I managed to speak to a consultant, who needed to escalate the call to the manager, but in the meantime tried to sell me another package. By then I had nearly lost my cool! I eventually managed to get through to a consultant who agreed to cancel my contract. I requested SMS confirmation of the cancellation before I would end the call. Another 10 minutes of the same inspiring music ... and EVENTUALLY the SMS that I was waiting for! PS. Vodacom, the customer should be king! You have ruined the relationship and damaged your brand! (By the way, I'm happy to report that I'm still sane after this experience)
