Vodacom Business LTE - keep looking for other alternatives...

Vodacom Business LTE I measured my Vodacom LTE speed with a vodacom mobile SIM and got 40 Mbps. So, when I saw the Business LTE deal for R999 (300GB at 'unlimited' speeds, others were limited to 10 Mps and 20Mbps) I ordered the service. For the first 8 months I managed to get up to 68Mbps with an external aerial, so I was very happy. The speed dipped in December, as expected, but afterwards it just never recovered. I got 12 Mbps down. I logged a service request with Vodacom, and they offered to install and Omni aerial at their cost. I was happy for the offer. When the technician came to install the aerial, I could only get 26 Mbps. He said he did a 'drive by' of the cell tower and noted that their had been some hardware damage and said he would log it. After 2 weeks, I received no reply from Vodacom. I logged another service request, with the usual 3 internet speed tests. Interestingly, I wanted to see if the Vodacom LTE speeds had gone down overall, so I did a test once again with a Vodacom Mobile SIM in a cheap Xiaomi phone. Amazingly the speed has actually gone up, I was able to get between 80 and 100 Mbps download! I also sent pictures of these speeds in with my request. My first reply was as follows: You hardware does not support the speeds you are requesting.... (So the previous 8 months before December was a fluke?) The second reply, was that I have a data only contract, and that they would only investigate speed issues if they were below 2 Mbps! How can my mobile Vodacom LTE speed double to 80-100 Mbps but my Router mobile ****le speed goes from 68 Mbps to 26Mbps. I have received no response so far, but I don't think I will. According to Vodacom's agreement I should be able to cancel if they are unable to match the speeds they have promised. But I'm not holding out for that. I hope they will allow me to cancel once my contract has run out.

The long and the short of the story. If you are looking for business or home LTE, do not stop looking at Vodacom Business LTE. There are many other better, more reliable options out there. (I got a fixed MTN LTE contract as a fai*****, and I'm getting 100 Mbps download. A friend of mine has a 1TB MTN business contract for R999 and is getting 70 Mbps download.) Supersonic also has some excellent deals offering much better speeds at the same or better price that I'm paying now.

I have been with Vodacom for the past 30 years, but it seems like it is now the time to move on.

If Business LTE is your only option, just bear in mind that if your internet service starts to decline, you'll just have to put up with it.

All they said was that my LTE signal was strong and that as far as they were concerned this is a good speed and closed the ticket....
